Yeah Boy! I passed the PMP Exam… (Part 2)

Continued from Yeah Boy! I passed the PMP Exam… (Part 1)

Another area that concerned me the most is the fact that I can’t seem memorize the various formulas presented in the study material. I eventually developed a way to remember these formulas by trying to read them like words (sounding like a Klingon). I will explain this in another post if I get around to it. There were also the different theories in motivation and leadership. Again on top of everything else that I have been trying to jam into my noggin’ this was another bang-my-head-on-the-desk item. For this, I also developed a simple system to allow me to remember them better. Read more

Yeah Boy! I passed the PMP Exam… (Part 1)

Four months of being a near-recluse, self-studying and sometimes overly stressing finally paid off. I passed the Project Management Professional (PMP) exam yesterday. For folks who are not familiar with the certification, Project Management Professional (PMP) is a credential offered by the Project Management Institute (PMI). Click here to learn more about the PMI and its credentialing programs. As of 30 June 2009 (2009 -06-30), there were 359,973 PMP certified individuals distributed globally. Read more

Want to thank a veteran? Here is your chance…

A little off topic, but every now and then life does happen…

To all those who enjoy the privilege of living in America. There is a cost to this freedom and prosperity and it is paid for by the sacrifices of those who proudly served and continue to serve. We always hear the cliche “Thank a veteran.”… I say here is your chance…

What’s Been Happening

I’ve been away from this blog for quite some time, and really feeling quite guilty for not making the entry. Although not the first time I’ve abandoned this  blog, this is the first time that this blog actually has some purpose and structure (sort of). Anyway, I have this little thing about excuses and how I think they are similar to a–holes. Everybody has them and they all stink ;-) . However, I do want to explain as to why I have been an absentee blogger since  the holidays. One word — BUSY. Yeah, yeah aren’t we all? Read more

Something off topic but really important: Help Haiti

January 14, 2010 · Posted in Life Happens, Random Stuff · Comment

Some info on how to extend a helping hand to folks devastated by the quake in Haiti:

You can send a $10 Donation by Texting ‘Haiti’ to 90999 or You can make a donation by calling 1-800-REDCROSS or 1-800-257-7575 (Spanish) or visit the Redcross site and click on the Donate Now button.

If $10.00 is a little bit more than you can afford right now, musician Wyclef Jean’s organization Yele Haiti also receives donations via text for $5.00. Yele Haiti’s website is http://www.yele.org/. You can text “YELE” to 501501 to give $5 to help with earthquake relief efforts.

In Canada, people can donate $5 to the Salvation Army by texting “Haiti” to 45678 through a system set up by the Mobile Giving Foundation.

Unless you have personally researched any other organization and know that they are trustworthy, be careful. YOU DON’T WANT YOUR WELL-INTENTIONED DOLLARS TO FALL INTO THE WRONG HANDS.

Not all “text to donate” services are created equal. Unfortunately, however appalling it may be, opportunistic scammers typically come out of the woodwork in the wake of catastrophes, hoping to strike it rich through fraudulent schemes.

Semi-Hiatus Over

January 11, 2010 · Posted in Life Happens, Random Stuff, The Internet · Comment

Wishing I was on hiatus because I was really on vacation, but missed several weeks of posts because I was actually tied up on another project and just can’t find anymore time nor the energy to get online after banging my head on the monitor dealing with the folks involved in this project. Hopefully in the next few weeks, it’ll be finally done. It’s almost like looking forward for that root canal to be over with…

Wishing you all a safe, happy and prosperous New Year…

It’s time for that cheesy classic… ;-)

Semi-hiatus

December 22, 2009 · Posted in Life Happens, Random Stuff · Comment

The past 2 weeks has been interestingly hectic. So hectic I barely have time to sit and put in an entry. In any case, I’m hoping to still be able to put in an entry here and there and hopefully I should be fully back in the fold by Jan. 2 next year.

Whatever the case maybe, I hope you all are having a wonderful Holiday Season and I wish you all the best for 2010.

Yeah Boy! Yah Suck! Friday…

December 4, 2009 · Posted in Life Happens, Random Stuff, Yeah Boy! Yah Suck! · Comment

Missed last Friday’s Yeah Boy, Yeah Suck ‘coz of the holidays and today I’ve been fighting the network gremlins all morning and a little out of sorts right now and playing catch-up… Yes that cheese to go with my whine sounds good just about now…

Anyway…

This week’s Yeah Boy! (should have been last week, but who’s tracking?)…

Efren Peñaflorida and the rest of the 10 CNN 2009 Heroes. Their stories are simply the true silver lining in the dark clouds that has been laying over our dear planet. Efren Peñaflorida was named the CNN Hero of the Year, but even though I am truly proud of this man from my home country, I can easily say that any of the other 9 folks recognized in this event are equally deserving.

My hat’s off to these heroes: http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/cnn.heroes/archive09/index.html

What else is there to say but YEAH BOY!!!

This week’s Yah Suck, well there are so many choices: Read more

    • HP's Wallet-Busting Win
The insane tug-of-war between Dell and HP for enterprise storage company 3Par has finally drawn to a close. We have a winner, if you want to call it that -- the final sale price is more than double the figure Dell initially put forward when it announced its intentions to buy 3Par a couple weeks ago, so who knows how much of that is real value and how much is […]
    • Making Change Happen Every Day: Q&A With GSA's David McClure
The U.S. government spends $80 billion annually on information technology. The U.S. General Services Administration is directly involved in nearly 25 percent of federal IT procurement activities through its Schedule 70 acquisition program, including nearly $9 billion directly for information technology investments. GSA has emerged as a leader in guiding fede […]

    • 3Par Sale Frenzy Ends With HP the Presumed Winner
HP has won the bidding war it waged with Dell for data-storage company 3Par, whose shares were trading at $9.65 when Dell first tried to acquire it in mid-August. Dell decided not to match HP's $2.4 billion ($33 per share) offer, which topped Dell's bid of $32 per share. Dell first tried to acquire 3Par with an $18 per share offer on August 16, whi […]
    • Intel, Infineon and the Winds of Change
Intel has focused solely on the computer business for so long, we forget it can pursue other avenues of growth as well. Tomorrow, all our devices will be connected and talk to each other and share information. In that new world, Intel has been looking around for another business to acquire to help expand its reach, and it chose Infineon. […]
    • In iTunes, All App Reviews Are Not Created Equal
I like walled gardens. They are safe and, for the most part, keep out the predators. However, when one sneaks over the wall, the results can be ugly, to say the least. With the iTunes App Store, one of the key supposed advantages for end-users is that it is a walled garden, and Apple is providing a safe, secure environment you can trust in. […]
    • How to Build a Better Business Blog
About the easiest way for companies to dip their toes into the social media waters is the blog. There are few technical burdens to setting them up, the time needed to create posts can flex with the workloads of the assigned writers, and they can become a conduit for customer conversations through the comments section. So every business is leaping eagerly int […]
    • Do E-Readers Spell the End of Print Media?
Recently, library chief Helen Josephine of Stanford University's Engineering Library said that the students' search through volumes of books to get to a formula that they want is basically at an end because "with books being digitized and available through full text search capabilities, they can find that formula quite easily." • Will Wednesday's Big Show Put More Spring in AAPL's Step?
Shares of Apple closed up 60 cents on Tuesday to hit $243.10. However, Cupertino is still smarting from the downward spiral of the past few weeks, when its stocks took a beating along with the rest of the market. The Dow on Tuesday recovered a fraction of what it lost after a Monday drubbing, and the Nasdaq fell nearly six points. […]
